Q. A key policy platform for Sovereign NZ is 'UN Agenda 2030'. Can you please explain your position and why you believe this relates to local government?
A. Our website spells this out fairly well…
UN Agenda has been decided by individuals who were not elected by New Zealanders. Regardless, their policies are nearly immediately converted to New Zealand legislation. No referendums, not even a public opinion poll. Eventually we find ourselves in a land ruled by foreign agenda, to the detriment of our society.
Specifically this relates to New Zealand’s Zero Carbon policies, He Pua Pua Co-Goverance which is a result of John Key’s signing of the UN Self-Determination declaration and has brought about Three Waters, Maori Ward legislation, Tauranga’s appointed ‘Commissioners’ and various other ‘co-governance’ bodies which only segregate our once cohesive society.
Q. Are you aware that 'Agenda 30' is often falsely accused of being a conspiracy and features widely in misinformation circulating on social media?
A. Agenda 2030 is a sub-goal within Agenda ‘21. UK Fires (
attached) relates to goals for 2030. This report was commissioned by the UK government and its suggestions will likely be adopted. These include the total elimination of cow and sheep farming, the closing of major airports and the beginning of the end for ALL shipping by 2030. Some ‘sustainable development’ documents from the UN also question the sustainability of private land ownership.
Overall, we reject any UN Agenda, developed by un-elected foreign entities, from becoming NZ law without a referendum. This is, in essence, the idea behind sovereignty.
Q. What is Sovereign's position on Covid-19 vaccines, vaccine mandates and the New Zealand government's wider response?
A. Sovereign does not have vaccine or mandate policies as this is beyond the scope of Local Government.
Q. Does Sovereign NZ accept man-made climate change is a reality and all levels of government must take mitigation steps?
A. We accept that man has contributed to CO2 emissions but do not believe there are only two options. The significance New Zealand has on global warming is not measurable. On the contrary, the proposals from Central Government, which include cow and sheep fart fines which could bankrupt many NZ farmers, will have a far more devastating effect on our society than global warming ever could. So the knee jerk reaction to sabotage our economy and primary industry will have no beneficial effect on climate and yield only detriment to the society that accepts it.
Q. Much of the language on your website appears to be influenced and aligned with the US sovereign citizens movement. Do you accept this?
A. I have never heard of that group. Our Sovereign name comes from the idea of Sovereign as a Nation, Sovereign as a People.
Q. Your candidates cite conspiracy theories, disinformation and or questionable research on everything from fluoridation to Covid 19. How do you respond to this?
A. We link to scientific papers showing fluoride is not without negative health consequences. My son suffered from fluorosis while drinking “safe” fluoridated water. His condition was not a conspiracy theory and I challenge anyone to prove otherwise.
Can you be specific about Covid 19 “conspiracy theories”? Did Denmark, which has one of the best health reporting systems in the world, recently block vaccinations for people under 18 because of conspiracy theories or because the vaccines had a negative risk/benefit ratio? I believe we need to stop using words like conspiracy theory so loosely and do a little research ourselves. Jacinda Arden stated that vaccine passports would “keep COVID from coming into businesses in the first place” and that vaccinated people wouldn’t get sick. How many articles were written to debunk these ‘conspiracy theories’?
Q. Why are you standing a candidate in a Maori ward when you oppose their creation?
A. We have to work with the system that was undemocratically forced upon us. Our Maori Ward candidate is of Maori descent but does not believe in segregation. The idea that these two things are mutually exclusive is irrational.
Q. Have your candidates deliberately scrubbed their public, social media and internet profiles?
A. No
Q. Joshua Riley says he is a business owner - can you please give us more detail?
A. I have owned an online education business for the last 13 years, providing continuing education to professionals. I also maintain the company's learning management system as a software engineer.
